Sunday Sermon- The Weekend that Changed the World! Easter Message, 2019

The Weekend That Changed the World.

Summary: No other weekend in history can compare to Easter Weekend.

How do we know Jesus was resurrected on a Sunday?

Mark 16:9 (NLT) 9 After Jesus rose from the dead early on Sunday morning, the first person who saw him was Mary Magdalene, the woman from whom he had cast out seven demons.

Matthew 28:1-6 (NLT) 28 Early on Sunday morning, as the new day was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went out to visit the tomb.  2 Suddenly there was a great earthquake! For an angel of the Lord came down from heaven, rolled aside the stone, and sat on it. 3 His face shone like lightning, and his clothing was as white as snow. 4 The guards shook with fear when they saw him, and they fell into a dead faint. 5 Then the angel spoke to the women. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6 He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying.

Romans 5:12 (NLT)

12 When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned.

Romans 6:23 (NLT)

23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

Pastor Mike’s Thought of the Day:

Those around us need to know the saving grace of Jesus Christ, and parents, you need to take the lead in teaching your children who Jesus is and about the sinful genetics we are born with and how sin separates us from God. Then you need to tell them about the weekend that changed the world, and that this gift is available to each and every one of them.

John 10:10 (NLT)

10 The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.

Revelation 1:18 (NLT)

18 I am the living one. I died, but look—I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and the grave.
